Principles only mean something if they rule things out. Where one of these has a real cost, it is written next to it.
When privacy and convenience pull in opposite directions, privacy wins, even when that makes the product do less. Manual entry is slower than automatic detection. We chose it anyway, because the alternative means asking for access to every transaction you have ever made.
The cost: RenewalNote cannot find a subscription you did not tell it about.
We do not publish numbers we have not measured or promises we cannot keep. No guaranteed savings figures, no invented user counts, no testimonials we did not receive, no security certifications we do not hold, and no launch dates we are not confident in.
The cost: our marketing is less exciting than it could be.
Nothing appears in your list unless you put it there. Nothing is cancelled, purchased, or changed on your behalf. You can delete a single entry or all of it, whenever you want, without asking anyone.
The app should be openable for eight seconds and closed again. We would rather say no to a good feature than ship a product that needs maintaining. Every addition has to earn its place against the cost of making the app harder to understand.
The cost: some reasonable requests will be declined.
Notifications exist to tell you something genuinely useful before a date arrives, not to pull you back into the app. No engagement streaks, no manufactured urgency, no notifications sent because you have not opened it in a while. And we say plainly that delivery cannot be guaranteed.
Readable contrast, real focus states, proper labels, keyboard operability, and support for reduced motion and larger text sizes. Accessibility is treated as part of building the thing, not a pass at the end.
No pre-ticked consent boxes, no fake countdown timers, no invented scarcity, no confusing cancellation flows, and no hiding the unsubscribe link. For a product whose entire pitch is trust, the site's own behaviour is part of the claim.
