This is the plain-language version. The formal policy is linked at the bottom, and both say the same thing.
Rather than describe our security in general terms, here is the specific list of things RenewalNote never touches.

There is no bank integration in the app. Not optional, not read only, not through a third party.
RenewalNote never sees what you spend, where, or with whom.
It never asks for your Netflix, Spotify, or any other account login.
Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to unnamed partners.
Nothing appears in your list unless you typed it. No automatic detection, no entries to verify.
Remove one subscription or clear everything, whenever you want. Clearing everything clears the backups too.
A backup is written to your phone and nowhere else. It is plain, unencrypted text, the same as an export, so anyone who can open your unlocked phone can read one.
Restoring replaces your current list, and your current list is saved as a backup first, so it can be undone.
If sync ships, it will be optional and off unless you turn it on. It is not in the first release.
iPhone and Android are both planned. Which one arrives first is not settled, so we are not announcing an order.
This list used to be longer. Storage is settled now that backups ship, and this site uses no analytics at all, so neither is an open question any more. What is left is genuinely undecided.

Before launch: the email address you gave on the waitlist form, and whether you ticked the beta tester box. That is it. In the app, it will know the subscription names, dates, and amounts you type in, and nothing else, because there is no other source of information.
Bank connection is how those apps detect subscriptions automatically, and for some people that convenience is worth the access. There is room for the other option: a tool that does slightly less work for you and asks for nothing in return. Manual entry is not a limitation we are apologising for. It is the reason there is nothing sensitive here to protect.
No. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to unnamed partners. There is no version of this product where that becomes the business model.
In the app, you will be able to delete a single subscription or clear everything without contacting anyone. For the waitlist email we hold right now, use the contact form and ask, and it will be removed.
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies, which is why you have not been asked to accept any. If analytics are added, it will be a privacy-respecting, cookieless tool that counts page views without building a profile of you, and this page will say so.
RenewalNote is still in development, so this page describes the commitments the product is being built around rather than a shipped system. No storage architecture, encryption standard, or security certification is being claimed that has not been implemented. When the app launches, this page will describe exactly what happens to your data, before you are asked to enter any of it.
